From Betty Patterson, Hertfordshire, England.
I had a wonderful spring holiday at Lagland in 2007, in my 80th birthday year. The contrast with the English Chilterns area where I live was striking; like going back to what England was like when I was a child.
The landscape is similar to Hertfordshire, but on a larger and more varied, more peaceful scale, with gentle sloping hills that made long walks easy, even at my age.
The greatest delight for me was that here were all the lost wild orchids of England; most of those listed on the website, like the Bee Orchid could have been seen in the Chilterns in the past, but have now gone; here they were common ,some growing in wide drifts, others hiding amongst the roadside grasses.
Lagland itself is a lovely old stone house with its own meadows; very tastefully converted to an easy-care but very French style. It was good to get up in the morning and take coffee on the balcony, see the odd lizard and listen to the meadow noises. So different from Hertfordshire now where it is almost impossible to escape from some kind of traffic noise.
Do go!

David J

from London says for him Lagland represents – fresh air, peace and quiet, and uncrowded roads; cheap wine; tranquility; beautiful countryside; spectacular sunsets; closeness to nature; stimulating walks…….

from the Mattison family, Aug 2009.
As a family we have been holidaying in France for over twenty five years, mainly in gîtes. Recently we had a holiday at Lagland in a converted barn. The owner Shannon Daly was most welcoming and always ready to assist in providing information about local activities and on a couple of occassions went out of her way to get leaflets and maps for our use. She could not have been more helpful.
The gîte was exceptionally clean and well maintained, Shannon ensured that the pool was always in pristine condition. The accommodation was extremely practical for a family holiday. I would suggest that it is the best gîte we have stayed in over the years.
